Re: [compost_tea] Sprayer recommendation sought

Title: Sprayer recommendation sought
Hi Graeme,
We use floodjet nozzles in our sprayer and have taken all screens out. We feel that forcing the tea thru screens destroys some of the microbes, actually I don't even turn on the agitator until the end of the spray - usually the bouncing around keeps things mixed around. We have a PTO centrifugal pump though. We started with the smallest floodjet nozzles we could buy because of slow ground speed, but found we had some degradation of microbes so we switched to a larger size to eliminate that problem. We first used flat fan nozzles but they plugged immediately - we have had no problems with the floodjet nozzles plugging.

Subject: [compost_tea] Sprayer recommendation sought

Hi All,
I've done a couple of brews now, which I have just been experimenting with on a new area which will be a vegie patch - about 200 square metres.   I've been putting it out with a watering can so as not to overpressurize the wee microbes an squash em.  This has been reasonably successful.  The soil actually smells like soil now (presumably Actinomycetes?).
Now I want to spray tea out on an acre I intend to grow strawberries on commercially but am concerned about spray pressures etc. What kind of sprayer can I use.  What do you use that you would recommend for 1 acre, but with expansion up to 5 acres.  I am looking at a Rapidspray 200l tank with 4m boom, 11.3lpm, 300kPa/45psi. It has a 12 volt pump, not PTO, but has a 3 point linkage so it can hang off the tractor. Anyone here have experience with these things?
Thanks in advance.
