Hi Tom -

You suggested it was merely long day length that resulted in giant vegetables.  I countered that.  It isn't just long day length that results in giant vegetables.

Yes I did suggest that. And yes I understand John beats everyone out up there because he uses CT. I don’t think it is fair to represent CT as producing giant vegetables. You’ve taught me to question validity of claims bandying about and to insist on data. Where’s the data on this claim?

If you want to say it wasn't CT, when John gets his large vegies and his neighbors don't, when Jose has giant vegies and the growers around him do not, and when Scott gets giant daylillies, and other growers in similar soil and climate do not, then you need to explain what you think it could be instead of the CT.

Ok, three users claim giant vegetable/daylilies….anyone else? I believe bigger healthier and more productive, but giant is hard to swallow.

I think what you are doing is saying that because ALL people don't get giant vegies with CT, that therefore CT cannot be the cause of the giant vegies.  This is not correct logic.

No I think some of us are making claims that are not repeatable. Disease suppression, increased production and general plant vigor ARE all repeatable by ANYONE making good tea.

The correct thing to ask is, what might be in combination with CT in these areas that result in giant vegies.

I’m not sure giant is the goal of most gardeners and farmers….

Instead of implying that these folks are, ah, well, ah, less than clear-sighted about the causes of their large vegie syndrome   :-)   that's a grin there - you might try to determine why they get large vegies and you don't.

My intent was not to imply a lack of clear sightedness. For that I apologize…..mea culpa!

So, Scott, John, Jose - are you in high rainfall areas, or low?  If they are all in high rainfall, then we can search for folks in high rainfall areas that don't get giant vegies.

Tom, I know you like to poke at people and make them think.  Poking is a good way to do make people think, but it sometimes also makes for hard feelings.

If asking Worm Gold folks and John Evans why they represent their products as producing giant vegetables is poking, then yes I am. I really would prefer they stayed with claims that were verifiable and able to be replicated.

So, as long as everyone understands how Tom works, and no one gets ruffled feelings, we'll think and not react.  Right?

As long as everyone understands I have nothing to sell and like many others have taken many risks to promote and support compost tea. As a result I do get ruffled and protective. Where’s the data. :>)

And maybe not all of us want giant vegies.

There’s a giant tomato contest here every summer….maybe I should reconsider the possibility and enter…..
