RE: [compost_tea] basic questions

If you had CT meeting SFI minimum standards, it would be sufficient to protect your roses. Dormant oil will smother the

Bacteria and fungi. That’s essentially how it works. There is much data on the use of oils. Use of dormant oils will likely smother the “good guys” as well

We used ultra light oils before we used CT. They worked very well, but CT offers much more protection. As long as our soils temperature remain above 50F

I will continue with tea, just not as often. We are faced with highly chlorinated irrigation water and these treatments seem to keep out numbers up.

The Soil Soup machine has never been in favor in my experience. Sell it quick and get a machine with adequate testing. EPM, Bob o lator,  or James Sotillo to name three great ones. They all sell TESTED machines with verifiable results.

Subject: [compost_tea] basic questions

I fear the previous discussion of lime sulfur was too complex for me, so am
hoping someone can answer in simple terms:

Is it good or bad to spray with lime sulfur (roses, apple trees) in the
winter, if one has been using compost tea?

How about dormant oil spray?

And...I am putting on a soil application of compost tea this week...should
that be the last application for the winter season?

I also fear now that the machine which my local nursery has, the Soil Soup
machine, which we got because it seemed to be the one recommended highly at
the time in newspaper articles, is now in disfavour?

Thanks,

Skyler
