Re: [compost_tea] (Cryptic post)
It seems that its the use of said equipment for the said purpose would
be proscribed; just being in possession of said equipment would not be a
problem.
The description is so general that it seems to cover all attempts to
produce compost tea; no-one would be able to even experiment without
obtaining a licence!
So my guess is that its an attempt to patent the process of making
compost tea using the equipment of
1. a tank
2. a perforated container
3. some way of introducing bubbles
4. some way to detect that dissolved oxygen is at desired level
5. some way to know that microorganisms are reproducing/have reproduced
and using inputs of
1. some form of liquid
2. compost
3. air
However, I think it would take a lot of experimenting, and maybe
wouldn't work:
1. what liquid would I use?
2. if the perforated container prevented egress of micro-organisms
(which must be considered 'particulate matter') then the tea would be a
solution only, with no food-web components.
3. there is no indication of whether micro-organisms are beneficial or
not.
I guess I could get around it if I used a pond, grew oxygen weed and
created an artificial wind over the surface, stirred it with a stick?
