RES: [compost_tea] Leaf squeezer

Hi Lloyd,

I will e mail you privately.
Thank you for the offer.
What bothers me about wise grips is that
sometimes you see the leaves slidding down
the two plates and no single drop comes off.
What I do in a situation like that is to get the
semi squezzed material and finalize it in a garlic press.
This combination works perfectly.
Evidently that if you have something like pecan leaves
or other types of hard of extract leaves you will then
need a hydraulic press specially designed.
Summarizing, it all depends on the type of leaves that you have to
test like you said.
For fruits in general a strong garlic press like MinuteAid does
the job.
For leaves like you do being wheat, barley and dry climates
a specially built wise grip like yours.
For hard to extract leaves like pecans a hydraulic press and then a
garlic press adapted with a filter.

This is a new field that requires us to find special solutions for
our own special problems

The brand of garlic presser that will resist extracting
leaf sap is Kitchen Aid. There should be others too.

Jose

 Hi Jose
I broke that one too - we are in a dry climate and working
on
wheat , barley etc, for difficult extraction of leaf and stem sap, we
had to
go to the vice grips and even then if they are not built right they
won't
work, I'm happy to provide a construction drawing to anyone that wants
it
just send me a fax number off list.
The garlic press will work fine for any fruits and the softer more juicy
leaf tissues.
Cheers
Lloyd Charles
