Re: [compost_tea] Re: Re pre brew innoculatied :fungal compost test results!

Hi Autumn -

Hum, that's true, we have seen some decent fungal data from the 25 gal GSI machine, IF and ONLY IF the machine has Hendrikus' modifications.  But again, not enough replication of results for me to be able to compute a typical percentage for that machine.  I'd say it's in the 25 to 35% range, given the few runs done.

The fungal spores I'm talking about are added to the brew.  For example, you can add spores of Trichoderma or Gliocladium or other beneficial fungi.  They typically germinate and grow in the tea.  But NOT mycorrhizal spores.  They are too delecate just after germination, and they are smashed in the tea brewing process.  Add them JUST BEFORE you start to spray the tea out.

These spores should be added in the tea, or just before spray.  The tea could be used to inoculate the spres through the pile evenly.  Otherwise, hard to get an even distribution through the pile.

Hope this helps!

Elaine

Dear Elaine,
One brewer you didn't mention was Hendrikus Schraven's modified
Growing Solutions machine. What would you say about it?

Where would the fungal spores come from that you mention with the EPM
machine? Can we add them? Would the process be similar to Jeff's
method of pre-brew innoculation of the fungal compost?
