RE: [compost_tea] Trichoderma, and Gliocladium?

Having used all of the products you mentioned, I have found that a program of sustainable practices combined with compost tea is every bit as effective.

Subject: [compost_tea] Trichoderma, and Gliocladium?

Elaine, I've used a couple products that have one of these organisms in
them. RootShield and PlantShield have Trichoderma in them.

I've heard of a product called Soilguard that has the Gliocladium.

It never occurred to me to try and get them to reproduce in compost or CT.

Were you referring  to these  kinds of products?

If not, where else can a person get Trichoderma, and Gliocladium?

Thanks,

JD

Hi Autumn -

Hum, that's true, we have seen some decent fungal data from the 25 gal GSI
machine, IF and ONLY IF the machine has Hendrikus' modifications.  But
again,
not enough replication of results for me to be able to compute a typical
percentage for that machine.  I'd say it's in the 25 to 35% range, given the
few runs done.

The fungal spores I'm talking about are added to the brew.  For example, you
can add spores of Trichoderma or Gliocladium or other beneficial fungi.
They
typically germinate and grow in the tea.  But NOT mycorrhizal spores.  They
are too delicate just after germination, and they are smashed in the tea
brewing process.  Add them JUST BEFORE you start to spray the tea out.

These spores should be added in the tea, or just before spray.  The tea
could
be used to inoculate the spres through the pile evenly.  Otherwise, hard to
get an even distribution through the pile.

Hope this helps!

Elaine
