Re: [compost_tea] Re: Soil Soup technical CT forum & info sharing

Dear Elprune -

Would you please go back and read the last couple weeks of exchange about the SoilSoup machines?   I've answered your question a couple times already.

SoilSoup machines do not EXTRACT fungi from compost.  The beneficial fungi cannot get out of the compost sock that is sold with the machine.

SoilSoup can go anaerobic very rapidly.  The last time we made SoilSoup, using the recipe and food resources that SoilSoup sells and recommends, we observed that the tea was anaerobic 10 minutes after starting the machine.  What happens to beneficial fungi when the water lacks oxygen, and bacteria (clearly anaerobic bacteria) are growing rapidly?

The beneficial fungi are destroyed.

Fungi grow in compost tea just fine.  But SoilSoup is not compost tea.

There isn't enough agitation in a SoilSoup machine to prevent fungi from growing.  Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, disease-causing fungi grow in the sock that comes with the SoilSoup machines, and since that fungus grows THROUGHOUT the sock, both on the ooutside as well as inside of the sock, it gets out in to the next batch of SoilSoup.
