[compost_tea] Sunday ad / SFI school and the NWGarden Show, Seattle

I am chewing crow.  My Bitti flunked my test.  For all of you who have a Bitti I am looking for a larger air pump.  The catalogue says 4 cfm but delivers less.  Another rated at 5 cfm delivers less than the one rated at 4 cfm.  The testing I did with light loads ( per the recipe) of compost and light loads of nutrients went ok.  Fair microbe results in 5 and 7 gallon units.  But when I tried for high high fungi and 30 gallons the little Bitti went low on D O2  and didn't do well on fungi.  Please those who have a Bitti keep the nutrients and compost load light until I can find an air source that will put out a true .5cfm.   When I do I will send you one.  The larger air source at .7cfm is too large for 7 gal.  It did work for 30 gallons but raises the price about $50.00.  It also splits the air to two diffusers. That is an advantage for anyone using the Bitti for 30 gallons. But it changes the price and design.

Spent last week SSM at SFI, Corvalis, on the edge of my chair again 8 to 6 daily whle Dr Elaine took us into the dark, scary, filled with criminal activity region underground.  Do you all realize what those little guys put up with to satisfy our need for food, clothing and shelter ?  It is a terrible insult to dump poisons on them too.

Today from 9 to 3   I visited the NW Garden show in Seattle. It is amazing to see the number of people interested in gardening.  How many acres of booths with wide isles between them and solid with people interested in gardening !!  Jeff put on a great short course in Soils Micro Biology for, it must have been well over 100, early morning gardeners.

Hendricus joined with Keep It Simple to sponsor a booth with much interest.

Cedar Grove gave away many 1 gallon jugs of ( extracted, not brewed)  TEA that has an amazing shelf life of 6 months !! ??

Soil Soup had a booth that displayed their product very well.  Of  interest is a very neat about 25 gallon brewer that looks like it should be in a retail area.  The brewing operation is visible under glass.  A faucet in the front allows the nursery clerk to fill a jug for the customer.  Very convenient.  A list of local nurseries who are signed up for the system.  Marketing is an important feature of any business including this one.

Sorry i didn't get there first.

My 50 to 250 g  Bob O Lator is still doing an outstanding job of producing microbes for all who need that size range.  I shipped the first 500 gallon cone bottom system 2 21 03.  Some features that I expect will please the new owners in Alabama.  It is about spray time in much of the world including the Seattle area.  Bob
