The brew I'm making at the moment frothed
up 18" above the CT surface yesterday after 24 hours of brewing but today
there is just a few inches of foam. Where the old foam has stuck to the
side of the tank it is quite smelly. Would this stuff be the same
as biofilm and therefore would be detrimental to the CT?
I took out the compost and continued the aeration
(6ppm O2) until I apply it tonight. Being curious, I added 2 tablespoons of malt
to 100 gallons of CT and watched the O2 drop to 3ppm in 12 minutes.
Amazing! I don't know how long it took to get back up to
6ppm.
If you're reading this Elaine, I hope you have an
interesting week at your Coff's Harbour seminars and you have plenty of
newcomers to educate. It would be good if there were fellows from the
Department of Primary Industries present, also garden magazine writers, and
garden TV presenters.
