[compost_tea] Re: CT recipe to applay on lawns

-Eileen, most of the turf I have come across tests out bacterial and
personal opinion is that if they are to bacterial you encourage poa
annua, barnyard and other weeds, grasses such as bent, blue and
fescues do better with a balanced food web..I think the trick is to
go for a 1:1 bacterial to fungal ratio. Dr.E any thoughts? IT is very
easy to promote a bacterial foodweb on turf the trick is to balance
it.
Tony,be very carefull with your brewer, make sure you test and test
and test again. I have seen the results of people using anarobic and
or just poor quality teas, it can be ugly. The absolute best defense
against weeds is a healthy stand of turf. Mow high 2-3Inches with a
sharp blade, don't overwater you know all the basics. You want to try
applications of good quality compost first, even applications of 1-2
yds per acre willbe benefical for disease suppresion. My$.02
