The wild yuccas on the hills around me bloom every year in May.

Tim,

I also use saponin with my compost tea when spraying potatoes. I add 25 ml
of 20% saponin extract to 26 gallons of compost tea / water right before I
spray. The last tea sample I sent in came back: AB 161, TB 2202, AF 2.04,
TF 8.37. The potato leaves had 89% B coverage and 5% F coverage. It seems
like I am getting better fungal coverage with an inferior tea.

As far as the other variables, I guess you could do some detective work
like the others have suggested. Good Luck.

If anyone cares the potatoes are looking great and are in full bloom.

Also worth a quick mention, my friend applied compost tea to a 6 year old
yucca plant that was not doing so well and now it is flowering for the
first time in its life. I am not familiar with yucca plants so I don't
really know if the flowering is normal at 6 years or if it could related to
the compost tea application.

Hope everyone is enjoying summer.

-Matt

Hi All,

Thank you for all the ideas to improve fungal coverage. Screening
should be no problem as testing was done following screening.
Pressure was about 18 PSI and nozzle size is a 1 gpm Floodjet
nozzle. The day of application was very hot (est. 90s F) and
although farmer did it in the evening, may have still been too hot?
Spray residue is a possibility although the farmer did a thorough
cleaning of his sprayer

Laura, what Yuccah do you recommend using and at what rate. Our
source is quite expensive and cost racks up quickly when doing a lot
of acreage.

Bob, the potatoes look good, but are still quite small and have only
had their first foliar application.

Thanks again,

Tim Livingstone
