Alan,
The ".....Reams style tissue test....." or I should say plant sap test I am
speaking of can be done using the instruments detailed at
html
http://www.pikeagri.com/tissue.html
they have details of the required instruments, the refractometer is
especially useful. Yes I am doing the testing on farm or I should say on
clients farms and I use the instruments listed from Pike, I have had them
for about 4 years and they have been very reliable,. There are other
instruments available that do the same thing and they may suit you needs
better??
It is interesting, one of the growers used high rates of foul manure, the
plants
are growing strongly and have a brix of 3 another client used nil foul
manure and brix is 6, conductivity similar for each one. pH for both are
low.
We are using molasses and compost tea with liquid calcium carbonate as
well as
humic acid through the trickle line. Also folia sprays of soluble calcium
with Boron and Cobalt with fulvic acid. These imputs will lift the brix
and improve the biology in the soil.
