Re: [compost_tea] Re: US National Organic Program Problems
What is going on, Kirk ? Look in on IAHF, a small group trying to cope with the medical equal to the chemical agriculture world.
When big organizations can make 20 cents worth of readily available stuff into 200 dollars worth of stuff they can sell, then do it by the hundreds of thousands of tons they can soon buy a strong voice in government. We have developed a democracy where big money buys government.of the big money by the big money for big money. That is the problem. I. too , would like an answer. Once we migrated to new shores and had a party. We need a party.?
A party? When the tobacco industry was finally found causing disaster among enough people legal action has made some progress toward reducing this poison.
We in this business know the damage being caused by improper treatment of soils, plants and that part of the ecology is as negative as was tobacco. It has an equally damaging effect on more people. It just isn't evident to more than we few. We need more books and movies and news reports that reflect this information. Jeff is that your department? Why are you hiding up there in Alaska. You need to be runnung Hollywood, NBC, ABS, 60 minutes and many more. Bob

Allo -- Have to respond to Doc E since Jeff hasn't. She is is right in
urging Congressional contact on compost tea and USNOP. Currently, USDA/NOP
regard even ACT as raw manure, the reasons for which are unclear and
contradict NOSB recommendations.
We need a USNOP thread here, darnit! What is ICTC doing? What are others
doing? USDA wants to bury compost teas and preps and a whole lot of stuff
organic folks have been using for centuries quite successfully, it seems.
Do you all realize vermicompost is still not officially NOP-approved, not to
mention CT being "not eligible to satisfy soil fertility requirements?" At
the same time, they approve ethylene for fruit "degreening." This is absurd
on several levels and needs our attention.
So Doc - what's the hangup now? When you say CTTF "is not working" do you
mean
they're not listening or that nothing is happening? I can imagine USNOP
managers have their minds made up and are simply conniving further in their
search for an excuse to ban compost teas, what else? Give us some good
questions to ask our congresspeople.
