If you put tea on your plants and they obviously grow much better, does not
this confirm in some way that the tea was "good"? Plant growth and
development can be quantified in many ways. I never heard anyone claim that
there was a DIRECT relationship between CT lab numbers and fantastic plant
growth/health. What goes on in the soil is way more complex than what is
measured in the lab. Test numbers are indicators. Soil and plant testing are
the same. Good tools for getting a handle on what is going on, not a crystal
ball. A direction for experimentation and exploration.
We are making compost tea for plants not just to grown more and better
microbes in the soil. No doubt testing can help make a "better" tea but the
data does not tell you should do to that end. If you are careful with the
details outlined in the CT Manual and the archives you should be able to
make a decent tea.
I am offering my opinion to continue a healthy discussion. I think we need a
better framework to hang our hats (data) on. Confusion and fear about
compost tea is obvious not productive.
