Get a meter that will measure dissolved O2 and CO2. You can get them throu=
gh Edumund Scientific but I'll bet if you look around, your local farm supp=
ly will have a source. Read the instructions thoroughly. Then see what yo=
u DO does and get your tea tested. DO will tell you that something is usin=
g up the O2. It will not tell you anything about diversity. So, follow th=
e SFI advice for shipping tea and get your tea tested. If you use a differ=
ent lab, find out what their shipping requirements are and follow them as e=
xactly as you can. However, if you use a different lab understand that the=
y will not have the experience that SFI has. I tend to trust experience ov=
er opportunism.
Track and/or log every batch of tea you make. Do soil and leaf assays befo=
re you use the tea and some time after the tea will have helped restore the=
soil. Applying tea and testing the next week will tell you little. Try t=
o take leaf assays after rain or watering (late afternoon if they water in =
morning. Morning if they water at night.) Soil test can be taken any time=
.

Subject: [compost_tea] Oxygen levels while brewing...
I want to monitor the oxygen levels while brewing tea and would like some=
suggestions, ideas, and assistance.
I've heard talk (but no specifics) of a German system complete with softw=
are in the $500.00 range. Can someone provide a lead here?
Any and all recommendations on products and suppliers will certainly be a=
ppreciated. Successes, failures...
Various oxygen monitoring lab products have been on e-Bay but having a li=
beral arts background, I'm pretty darn clueless about what to shop for and =
how to make it work for monitoring a complete brewing cycle. Comments plea=
se...
I've never actually seen an oxygen monitoring set up for this kind of app=
lication. If anyone can send me some photos I would appreciate that as wel=
l.
I have reviewed the archives of this list and haven't found what I'm look=
ing for but if this has been a subject of lengthy discussion in the past, a=
nd you don't want to over burden the list, please contact me directly with =
any information you are willing to share...
Thanks
