Hi Margaret -

Great to hear from you. You make a good point on the recommendations - promote the good products and say nothing about the bad.

We have just added the ability to do electrical conductivity to the list of assays that we do. So, we can check for the kinds of problems with compost or soil, that you brought up. If the biology is happy and healthy, then you probably don't have serious chemcial problems. But, we can have heavy metal tolerant, or salt-tolerant communities of microbes, and so the EC assay will let us know about that problem.

It's easy enough to buy an EC meter for those who want to add that ability. The meter costs about $270 from Pike Agri lab, and you just need de-ionized water to mix one-to-one with your soil or compost sample.

The SFI test will cost about $5.00 per sample, because it takes time to mix the sample, do the assay, report the results via e-mail or FAX.
