Re: [compost_tea] How to Make homemade Fish/Seaweed Emulsions
It is relatively easy to make fish hydrolysate, but fish emulsion requires
removing the oils, and that requires from separation technology.
Fish hydrolysate - You need to grind up the bones, scales and other materials
to small sizes, and then use some enzymes to digest the fish protein and
calcium. Oils need to be incorporated into the mix using a surfactant. It isn't
easy to make the oils stay in the liquid and not separate.
Best to use a fish that will not be high in heavy metals or other toxics.
Careful of the source of fish.
It is much easier to buy a good fish hydrolysate from Organic Gem, Neptune's
Harvest, or Geofish.
