Chuck - I was told by someone - that a limited amount of compost would
use all the chlorine and that after that the O3 or O1 whichever it is
that makes Chlorine so effective would be used up. Do you or anyone on
the list know of anyting that could be added to water to "use up" the
chlorine and leave an acceptable residue?

I'm thinking that molasses or kelp or humic acid or some other organic
- cheap organic substance might be added chlorinated water, use up the
chlorine or even chloromine and produce a resulting product that would
be harmless or beneficial in the ACT Bob

Thank you all for your knowledgeable, thoughtful, and timely replies to
my chlorine question. I'm using rain water for my tea but am still
dealing with yard and garden watering concerns. Even after using
relatively fine mist sprinklers, total chlorine is still present at five
feet from the sprinkler head.

I've stored tap water in 60 gallon open containers and am able to reduce
the chlorine significantly but like Doctor Ingham said, it takes hours
of aeration to get rid of it completely (I still haven't determined just
how many hours, but will).

Next try is a filtering system...

I'm always open to suggestions...
