Re: [compost_tea] Re: biological transmutation of elements?
Hold on - let's get the definition of tranmutation versus transformation differentiated. They are not the same thing!
Steve Diver said -
Basically, compost itself is a transmutation,
a biotransformation of raw organic materials into complex
humic molecules and polymers.
That is improper use of terms. Transmutation means something entirely different from transformation. They are not exchangable terms.
Mutation and formation are not the same.
Transformation from one compound to another is one thing. Biology does this all the time. You transform oxygen into carbon dioxide with every breath you take.
But you cannot take oxygen and turn it into lead.
Transmutation means that kind of changing of one ELEMENT into a different element. Changing oxygen into lead would require so much energy that humans would not survive in the vicinity of the transmutation.
Please use the terms properly.
Thanks -
