What we used to call actinomycetes is not fungal at all, but bacteria.
The microbiological world went through this discovery about 25 years ago.
Actinomycetes are not "mycetes" at all, mycete meaning fungi.
They are properly called actinobacteria, as they are bacteria in nature.
They have bacterial DNA, they have the cell membrane structure of bacteria, their
ribosomes are organized like other bacteria, and not like fungi at all.
