Re: [compost_tea] Rock Dust
Are you both using granite dusts exclusively or do you use other rock mate=
rial? Do you recognize any paramagnetic properties in the dusts?
Judi
I have only used granite dust.
I don't know what paramagnetic means as you are using it. Do you mean ways=
that the particles adhere when dry? You know, I tried an experiment where=
I put a magnet into a brewer while brewing and tested the tea samples with=
my microscope. A friend was all into magnetology and magnetic cures. She=
had been reading a book on Mesmer and his magnetic experiments. She thoug=
ht the magnet would give the bacteria some special quality. I had no idea s=
o I gave it a shot. I did this twice and tested about every hour over an 8 =
hour period. I can't say that I noticed any special difference but my obse=
rvations were casual. I would put a drop of water on a slide with a cover =
and observe at different magnifications. The tea brewed as it normally wou=
ld with increase in biomass. The magnet was not excessively powerful but i=
t did pick up a lot of bits of iron (I assume) from the tea. But even when=
I put the magnet in a bucket of water and aerated, some small particles we=
re picked up. I thought about making a big electro-magnet but never got ar=
ound to it.
