Pesticide residues can harm Heterorhabditus, as well as being detrimental to the bacteria carried by the nematode.  It is the bacterium that is the agent of grub removal.  The nematode is just the carrier of the bacterium.

Application of fertilizer can be quite detrimental to the bacterium and the nematode as well, so once the biology is applied, try to convince the person to use reduced fertilizer applications.
