Ted in response to your proposed Test of NCT vs ACT - some detail :1 14 05
Ted so we all know the Objective of the tests
Method
Proceedure
Report
As a once upon a time test pilot let me fill in the blanks as I see them. In your own definition of the term, co-operate ( I think that is what I am doing ) ( Test pilots don't drink TEA )
Objective to compare the effectivity of properly aerated ACT with non aerated anaerobic compost Tea herinafter 'NCT'.
Method ACT will be brewed in testers choice of an ACT brewer using testers formula.
NCT will be brewed in a similar but not aerated system, same formula.
Water allowed to aerate, from the same source in like quantities will be applied
Applications will be made in similar ways and the results recorded.
Recordings to be made Soil tests, TEA tests, plant growth, plant condition recorded
Records of any interest such as seed response, plant health, plant disease,
insects noted, flavor and visual quality of produce.
Procedure
Each application including water will be identical except for the TEA applied.
TEA formulas and brewer procedure will be recorded as will T & O2 data at regular
and at equal intervals, at least 20 readings for each brew. Lenght of brew to be
described as well as any notes about the brew of interest. Other___________?
All tests, soil and TEA will be made at SFI per their standard _Bacteria, Fungi,
Protozoa___(other? needed to evaluate NCT ? )___________ .
.
Similar areas of 10'sq or other dimensions, spaced 4'+ ft apart will be treated.
Large size pots may be used in place of in the ground if desired by tester.
As many such areas as designated by the tester may be run.
All test complexes will be treated alike. Data taken and photos taken.
For each of the plots soil samples will be taken before and at 2 intervals thru the test
program, near the middle of the program and near the end of the prgram. Dates,
location in the plat the same, photos to be taken from identical setup. .
All data to be recorded and when possible confirmed by photo.
Germination.Similar seedings will be made.Germination notes and photo reports made.
Reasonable but identical applications shall be made. If irrigation is done identical
irrigation. No fertilers are to be applied. Cultivation and weeding may be needed. Photo
evidence of weed conditions with notes.
If tests are run on lawns identical cutting will be required. Cutting may be mulched Note
any such teatment (s). NO fertilizers or other lawn care products are allowed on or near
test plots. A history of past lawn applications is desirable.
. If tests are on edible plants plant testing will be by ________________________.
Taste tests and quality testing by any of several people with comments.
try to do "blind" tests where the taster / tester does ot know the source of the produce.
It the tests are being run on fruit trees It might take a few years of teatment to change
the health and quality of the fruit. First year results may show differences if started early
in the spring. - Like in February in Washington State. Judi?
Reports
Will be made condensed on PDF format so they can be transmited via internet
This is going to involve time, effort and expense. Anyone taking on the task should submit to ____________________________ an outline ot their intended test program. The plot selected, the seeding or lawn or trees or berriesor ___________ to be included in the test. If help is needed with digital cameras and PDF reports try to line up that help in advance.
Describe the brewer used and the NCT brewing method used. O2 reading by what method?
There are some testing organizations who do this type testing. Can we invite them to offer suggestions and to run a test of this nature with us? Or are there any small grants to cover the cost and technical needs of such testing.?
Or is this test far more complex than the subject is worth?
Or has this aleady been done and the data is stored and available?
Or TED is this not what you had in mind? If not? Cooperation says your turn now to describe your test in a progam that we can follow. .

BTW Bob well done, it seems that negative threads seem
to take on a life of their own. Good of you to attempt
to halt that direction.
Now, Ted do you want to share your methods and take on
those who may want to attempt to run your test in real
time.
I don't understand what you mean here.
