Re: [compost_tea] Brewing time for soil applications only

It seems that a single 500 gal. brewer for 2000 acres might not be big enough for an on going CT application program. 500 gal is enough for about 33 acres. That's 60 days of 24 hr brews for 2000 ac. coverage. Obviously, that means more capital expense. The right setup should last years, though. Otherwise the cost of making tea is relatively small. Your options might be to restrict your application area until you have confirmed the efficacy of CT or simply put on a more dilute application rate of 24 hr tea with ejecting extra nutrients/foods during application.

Good point John,
But also consider this, if I have 2000 acres to get over with tea. I brew1500 gal./day. That allows me to put 3x as much nutrients and 3x as much premature (my word for not brewing 24 hrs) tea over all my land. Now if I had 100 acres only I would of course brew 24 hours because I could get over that 100 acres a number of times during the season. I do see where maybe you have up to 10x the numbers in the tea by brewing longer may actually be better than putting out tea with low numbers

Everyone has a different situation and it was a thought of ways to maybe improve the amount of not only microbes but also nutrients from the tea in a quicker time frame. Especially at the beginning of the season.

Thanks to all who replied.

How fast would bread rise if you only put one small particle of yeast in
not simply about food resources.
