[compost_tea] Re: Milk and powdery mildew...
I posted an item on this topic a few months ago.
It had a citation to research on foliar milk
applications for disease control from Brazil.
It also had a recipe for Lactic Acid Bacteria
Serum from the IMO system developed by Korean
Natural Farming Assocation.
The details are in the web archives.
There is a correlation to lactic acid bacteria
for powdery mildew control, using EM (Effective
Microorganisms) and IMO (Indigenous Microorganisms).
See the following paper on EM for control of
powdery mildew from Yugoslavia, a paper in the
EM Online Database provided by EM Technology
Network.
The disease control results in this study
were excellent.
Control of Vine Powdery Mildew by the use of
EM Preparations (Yugoslavia)
http://www.emtech.org/data/pdf/891msvesnarobotic.pdf
Keep in mind that results with EM and/or CT vary
from time to time and place to place.
Biological disease suppression varies with weather,
climate, disease pressure, microbial activity, etc.
Here is another paper of interest from the
EM Online Database.
Investigation on The Properties of EM Bokashi and
Development of Its Application Technology
http://www.emtech.org/data/pdf/0136.pdf
It discusses the lactic acid properites of EM,
changes in pH, EC, mineral nitrogen during
the fermentation period, etc.
Interestingly, it shows changes in Actinomycetes/
Fungi and Bacteria/Fungi ratios during fermentation.
There are many ways to approach biological farming.
It also takes time to evaluate what works.
