The best we can tell, foam means you have some sugars and proteins being
released into the water. So, different composts may have different starting
materials, and therefore different sets of organisms growing. Different sets of
organisms result in the release of different kinds of secondary metabolites,
or waste products.
So, you are seeing that different organisms make different waste products,
sometimes producing one color foam, other times a different quality foam.
It helps you see that some day, we have to start to understand the species
composition of bacteria, fungi and protozoa and possibly nematodes in compost
tea.

We have been experimenting brewing ACT with different composts. The
brewing process always produces some thick dark slimy foam but some
batches have foamed enormously and other very little. What is this
