rising plate meter - purchase
Forage workers -
A couple of us in Washington/Idaho are intending to purchase rising plate
meters for herbage mass estimation. Model(s) I'm looking into are Ellinbank
Pasture Meters as described by Earle and McGowan. 1979. Evaluation and
calibration of an automated rising plate meter for estimating dry matter
yield of pasture. Aust. J. Exp. Agric. Anim. Husb. 19:337-343. Plate
dimensions are approx. 30 cm x 30 cm. Two counters record cumulative plate
height and number of readings, so mean plate height for a large number of
readings can be obtained easily. Price will be in the range of $400 as
things look now; might drop some - I'm still sourcing them. If any of you
are interested in ordering one, there would be some savings (each would cost
$350 + shipping) in an order of at least 3 units from the one source I have
a firm price from so far.
Let me know if this is of interest.
