Many plants have been associated with photosenitization in animals.
Phylloerythrin is one compound that has been shown to cause hep.
photo. There is an Australian group that has developed an assay for
this specific compound, however I cannot locate the name of the lead
investigator. We speculated, at the time, that switchgrass may contain
a similar compound but were unable to confirm that.

Good luck in your search for a cause to your problem. The Merck
Manual gives a very good, although brief, description of these
various problems. I am acutely aware of the frustrations involved
with trying to study this type of problem.

Sincerely,

Cp
