POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION:  Research Specialist, Forage Variety Testing

LOCATION:	Department of Agronomy
      University of Kentucky
   N-122 Agricultural Science North
   Lexington KY 40546-0091

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  Conduct forage crop variety testing field
research at multiple locations in Kentucky under the supervision of
resident faculty member.  Be responsible for seeding, harvesting, and
maintenance of plots as well as data collection, analysis, and
summarization of plot research.  Assist with extension education
efforts related to the forage  variety test and of the supervising
faculty member. Be responsible for communication with others who are
cooperating in the forage variety testing program across the state of
Kentucky. Work cooperatively with other applied forage research
programs of the Agronomy Department.

QUALIFICATIONS:  M.S. in Agronomy or closely related area. 
Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain farm machinery and plot
harvesting equipment.  Research experience and computer skills are
highly desirable.  Should be able to communicate with clientele over a
wide range of education and experiential backgrounds.  Must be able to
work with minimum supervision. Experience with the care and
maintenance of beef cattle is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability
to work cooperatively with others to accomplish common goals.

RANK AND SALARY:   This position will be filled at the research
specialist level.  Minimum salary is approximately $29,000 and
dependent on training and experience.
