Nebraska Grad Assistantships

The Agronomy Dept. at the U. of Nebraska has two assistantships available:

(1) GRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANTSHIP

This is a one-half time position in the Department of Agronomy leading to an
M.S. (2-year program), or Ph.D. (3-year program) degree.

SUBJECT AREA
The graduate student will plan, design, and conduct research on forage
protein degradation in ruminants as part of an interdisciplinary team of
forage, range, and animal scientist. This research is part of an on-going
regional research project on protein utilization by beef cattle. Research
to this point has focused on developing techniques for measuring escape
protein and characterizing rumen-escape protein of cool-and warm-season
grasses. The student in this position will concentrate on plant
characteristics affecting rumen-escape protein with the purpose of
determining plant structural or physiological mechanisms associated with
protein degradation. The student will be expected to interact with the
interdisciplinary team of faculty and graduate students. The incumbent will
also participate in other research activities and interact with other
graduate students who have forage/livestock interests.

QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. or M.S. in agronomy, range science, animal science, or related
biological science.

STIPEND *
$11,184 - M.S.
$11,856 - Ph.D.
