POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Position: Extension Associate
Location: North Carolina State University

Basic Qualifications: MS or PhD in Crop Science, Soil Science, Animal
Science, Biological and Agricultural Engineering with appropriate training
or experience in animal-forage-crop management and/or nutrient
managementsystems. Applicant should have the ability to interact with
professionals from many disciplines as well as field faculty and industry
representatives. Demonstrated writing and verbal communication skills
necessary. Familiarity with computers, statistical analysis, field plot
technique, farm equipment, livestock management and report preparation will
be helpful. Candidate must be able to speak, write, make public
presentations in a professional manner, and insure the programs are open to
all citizens regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, or economic
circumstance. There would be opportunity for candidate to pursue graduate
training.
Major Responsibilities: This position will be responsible to the
Professor/Extension Specialist for Forages and Pastures. Primary duties
will be to design, organize, and implement an educational program on the use
of crops for utilization of nutrients from wastes of the animal and
municipal industries, as well as fertilizer in grazed and ungrazed
management systems. Responsibilities will include conducting training
programs for field faculty, other public agency workers, farmers and
industry representatives.
