annual ryegrass wanted
As many of you may know, the mid Atlantic area has been hit hard by
drought. As a result, we have producers searching for "innovative"
ways of producing low cost, high quality, fall forages on their farms.
Marshall Ryegrass was used successfully last year. It was planted in
the fall and grazed and machine harvested. We (Extension Agents) in
the area are establishing a research/demonstration area at the Western
Maryland Research and Education Center to evaluate different annual
ryegrasses. We are in search of additional varieties to include in the
trials. Please forward this request to appropriate individules. So
far we have Marshall, Tetra Gold, and Southern Star. We have no grant
to do this so donated seed is a must. Our planting date will be
Sept. 20, so time is of the essence. Thanks.
