Greetings. Kevin Murphy, a district agriculturist in the Okanagan Valley
of British Columbia, has a beef cow/calf farmer with a barn full of hay
that is coated with a fine layer of silt and clay as the result of
flooding of a local river this spring. He is asking what impact this will
have on intake and animal performance. I recall seeing material that dealt
with something similar when Mt. St. Helens erupted in 1980, but I can't
put my hands on it. Can anyone provide any thoughts on this? Thanks.
Please reply to me and I will pass along to Kevin.
