Subject: transportation costs in large-scale farming
Hi! I am gathering data on transportation statistics, distances and costs
(i.e. average distance produce travels to reach consumer), associated with
large-scale agriculture production. Specifically, I am looking for
information pertinent to California. A friend remembered seeing a great
amount of dialogue on Sanet regarding this issue a few months back.
Any information you can give me would be very helpful. I am trying to
relate these statistics back to the need for supporting the small-scale,
local farmer as a means to decreasing pollution associated with
transportation.
Thank you in advance. I look forward to hearing your responses.
Sincerely,
Sarah Stack
