Re: Alleged dangers of organic food fertilized with manure
The way the author of the quoted article worked in Alar, it sounds like
he had an axe to grind. But my question is, why organic? A manure
spreader is a common enough piece of equipment on any farm with animals,
organic or non-organic. And you can get exposure to E. coli from any
animal manure, including any squirrel or rabbit poop from feild
marauders. Might as well stop eating all raw foods.
The problem is more in our overuse of antibiotics, which accelerates the
evolution of resistant organisms. Trying to blame it on the organic folks
sounds like nonsense.
