Impact of Molecular Biology on Animal Health and Production Research
March 10-11, 1997

Researchers working with domestic animals face a dilemma. The best
conferences typically address human health issues or concentrate
results on laboratory animal or human molecular/cellular targets.
Veterinary or animal science meetings rarely showcase recent
scientific or therapeutic advances. CHI’s Impact of Molecular Biology
on Animal Health and Production Research aims to bring together
world-class investigators in the areas of academic research and
pharmaceutical research and development and from government agencies
to showcase the excellent science being done on livestock leading to
new animal health therapeutics and production research. A key
advantage of animal health research is that timelines to get into the
target species can be short. Many of the latest ideas can be
evaluated immediately. The area of gene-based therapies will find
broad application in animals before man and is clearly an intriguing
one to watch.
