Actually, things don't really decompose in the anaerobic conditions of a
landfill. They stay there forever. Also, you seem to imply that things
thrown away are recycled into nature again. Again, there's simply no
basis for this. The modern pathway is TREE>>PAPER>>CONSUMER>>LANDFILL.
There is no cycling. Even if it did decompose, a forest was still cut
down for it, which could have been avoided through recycling.
