environment, impact on
health, economic issues, regulations, policies, and clean technology in
developing countries.

Topics:
Environment:
          - Environmental chemistry and monitoring: analytical methods,
quality control in
             developing countries
          - Distribution, environmental fate and behaviour (studies in
tropical regions):
             monitoring programmes, bioavailability and bioaccumulation,
modelling
environmental fate, transport (air, water, soil, biological
transport), deposition
             and leaching
          - Ecotoxicology: biomonitoring, toxicological tests,
ecotoxicological studies
          - Environmental risk assessment

Health:
          - Health effects: e.g. poisonings, skin and eye injuries,
cancer, neurotoxicity,
             reproductive and genotoxic effects
          - Environmental and occupational exposures: e.g. respiratory
and dermal
             exposures, biological monitoring
          - Intervention: e.g. surveillance, design of preventive
programs, intervention
             studies
          - Methodology: e.g. epidemiologic designs, exposure assessment,
analytical
             aspects, risk assessment
          - Others: e.g. toxicity studies
Reduction of pesticide use:
          - Long term case studies of alternative agricultural farms:
agronomic, ecologic
             and socioeconomic aspects
          - New approaches for pesticide reduction and application techniques
          - Regional implementation of Integrated Pest Management Programs

region, population,
             crop
          - Economic valuation of pesticide use impact
          - Instruments for pesticide use regulation: taxes, legislation,
international
             regulations, free trade related aspects
          - Economic assessment and bioavailability of alternative methods
          - Strategies and policies to promote sustainable agriculture
practices that
             reduce pesticide use
