I think we are victims of poor mailing list software and unsophisticated
users. When people send a message to SANET, it gets broadcast out to several
hundred(?) email addresses. Inevitably some of those bounce and a message
goes back to the original sender about "Undeliverable". They figure this
means that no one received their message and send it again. And again. And
again.

At least that's what *I* think is happening! I think there are two
solutions: (1) train the users to ignore "undeliverable", or (2) use better
mailing list software.

Option one is difficult, since people subscribed to SANET changes daily.
Switching to LISTSERV brand software (option two) would fix this problem. It
would also filter out the dozen messages we receive weekly about "subscribe"
or "unsubscribe", plus have a digest mode so we could receive one message per
day containing all SANET postings for that day.

But I'm just a member of this list. Any changes would need to be
decided/coordinated thru NCSU, since they manage the list.
