JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Executive Director, CAFF

The Community Alliance with Family Farmers is a grassroots, non-profit 
organization committed to forward-thinking solutions to today's 
agricultural problems. CAFF's success lies in our ability to cut across 
political, social and economic lines and to find common ground among 
traditional adversaries.  We have forged new partnerships between farmers 
and environmentalists, policy makers and community members, industry 
leaders and consumers.

CAFF is searching for a new Executive Director.  The position will be 
based in Davis, California and will be full-time. 

Overall, the Executive Director will provide the vision and leadership to 
ensure that the mission and values of CAFF are carried forward and will 
guarantee soundness and smooth functioning in all of the major management 
areas of the organization. The Executive Director will foster teamwork, 
open communication and collaboration among staff and the Board of 
Directors, providing the necessary clarification for decision making and 
identification of potential problem areas. 

Areas of Responsibility:
  -Serve as chair of the CAFF management team.
  -Monitor program development, authorize program budgets and ensure that 
programs work to further the mission of CAFF.
  -Exercise final authority in decisions of hiring, firing and setting of 
staff salaries.  Guide the staff evaluation process. Approve staff job 
descriptions.
  -Oversee financial management and provide for the fiscal soundness of 
CAFF.  Report to the Board on financial issues and guide financial 
reporting and analysis.
  -Act as staff liaison to the Board of Directors.  
  -Represent CAFF to the public, in policy and funding settings.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in 501C(3) and 501C(4) 
non-profit administration in addition to a strong working knowledge of 
sustainable agriculture.  Demonstrated skills and experience in the 
following areas are important:

  -Written and verbal communication
  -Grassroots advocacy and constituency development
  -Fundraising from diverse sources
  -Development and management of complex budgets
  -Media, public relations and communications
  -Leadership development and team building
  -Human resource management
  -Sense of humor and creativity

Salary Range: $41,635 - $58,289. CAFF provides a benefits package that 
includes one month of paid vacation per year. CAFF is committed to
