SAN requests submissions to Showcase of Sustainable Agriculture

The Showcase of Sustainable Agriculture Information and Education
Materials was published in 1994 by the Sustainable Agriculture Network
(SAN). SAN is currently updating and revising the Showcase, an easy-access
database of free or low-cost information about sustainable agriculture. The
publication will be available in book format and on the Internet.

We are soliciting entries to the Showcase. If you were listed in the last
edition, you will receive a query in the next two weeks. If you would like
to submit a new entry, please contact Sustainable Agriculture Research and
Education (SARE) program intern Kerri Deuchler.

We encourage electronic submissions. A template for submitting entries is
enclosed in the following message. If you submit electronically, please
be sure to send a copy of your publication to Kerri. It will be added to
the collection at the National Agricultural Library and will be indexed in
Agricola and will then be available for lending.

If you have any questions or comments, contact Kerri at SARE's University
of Maryland office:

Insect pests, several diseases, and high cosmetic standards for fresh market
fruit present formidable obstacles to organic or
low-spray apple production. However, with disease-resistant cultivars and
proper management, growers can greatly reduce
their reliance on synthetic pesticides. This package provides information
regarding low-spray and organic apple orcharding,
including geographic considerations, insect and mite pests, mammalian pests,
diseases, rootstock, and economics and
marketing.
