Greetings,
My urban garden is on the roof of a warehouse in downtown Toronto.
I've got 15 4'x6' beds, each with 4" of municipal compost. In spite
of my initial skepticism about the soil depth, most crops are doing
famously. In fact, I've noticed a number of them are doing better
than their ground-level counterparts -- the pests haven't found me yet
(knock on wood).
My main crop is a mesclun-type salad mix, but I also have filet beans,
okra, tomatillos, tomatoes, eggplants, kohlrabi, and a few herbs. A
good way to use wasted space (watch your weights if you try this at
home!!)
Regards, j
