*Pay to Spray: Campaign Contributions and Pesticide 
Legislation, 1996.* Kert Davies, Richard Wiles and 
Christopher Campbell. Investigates influence of 
pesticide and food processing industries on U.S. 
Congress, emphasizing role of the Food Chain Coalition, 
a political action committee (PAC) of 145 corporations 
and organizations representing these industries. 
Examines Congressional support of the pesticide industry

terms of health and environmental impacts, including

document ways to improve access to food by stressing 
local food production and sustainable agriculture

and ecological effects of pesticides used in 
conventional cotton, emphasizing impacts on developing 
countries. Includes examination of textile labeling 
campaigns, stressing need to standardize proceedures and

and applications of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), a 
method of measuring a given product's environmental 
effects from production to final use. Presents LCA case 
studies, including impacts of manufacturing shirts, soy

processes for systematically gathering data and 
organizing information into format compatible with LCA.

*Greening the Grassroots: How Wildlife and Habitat
