That's right--as someone else wrote here recently, the existence of 
periods of glaciation indicates that balance is important.

If human contributions are insignificant, how is it that atmospheric 
concentrations are as high as they have been in hundreds of thousands
of years and still rising?  It's because we are upsetting the balance.
