*Focus on Food: A Review of Food Security for the World 
Food Summit, 1996.* The Pesticides Trust. Supplement to 
Pesticides News No. 33, September 1996, a quarterly 
periodical of pesticide news worldwide. Presents 
articles on food security and pest management 
strategies, emphasizing that high pesticide input 
practices hurt human health and the environment, 
especially in developing countries. Articles focus on 
range of topics related to food security, including 
pesticides and alternatives in Asian rice production; 
pesticide problems in Ethiopia; potential of integrated 
pest management (IPM) to reduce pesticide reliance; and 
women's role in food security. Stresses importance of 
locally based food security and argues that global food

*Hungry for What is Right, September 1996.* 
(Periodical). FoodFirst Information and Action Network 
(FIAN). Provides updates of food security and human 
rights developments worldwide, including action alerts 
and news about successful human rights movements. Alerts 
include sample letters, contact information and 
recommended actions. September issue focuses on FIAN's 
tenth anniversary, and includes articles about FIAN's 
role in human rights and food security activism over the 
past ten years. Action alerts in this issue describe 
peasants expelled from land in Honduras and indigenous 
Chilean farmers threatened by a hydroelectric project.
