The Detectspray is spayer control system that uses a colour sensor to
detect green growth. There is one sensor for each nozzle. If it "see's"
green it opens a valve for the nozzle. It was first developed in
Australia and has been commercially developed by Concord Inc. of Fargo
ND. Its main use is for weed control in fallow. One commercial applicator
I know claimed that on average the Detectspray reduced herbicide use by
50% in chem-fallow fields. However, he also had a number of problems with
sensor failures.
I have not heard much about the detectspray for a couple of years. This
is likely due to a significant reduction in fallow area in western Canada
over the past few years. Concord also has not been aggressively marketing
it either.
Hope this helped.
