Of course, the thread is irrelevant to alt.org.earth-first,
alt.politics.greens, sci.agriculture, sci.econ, sci.energy, and
sci.environment. But the anonymous troll "charliew" keeps restarting
it because he's part of the team that's flooding those groups to keep
people from using them. Most of the team appear to be volunteers.
A few work for firms which do the same kind of work in other mass media.
Some, like the anonymous "charliew," conceal their identities.
Some are duped into working for the team, imagining they might get
"the last word" in an endless, uninformed "debate" and fearing that
trimming their Newsgroups lines might leave some reader somewhere
uninformed of their "victory." The dupes simply haven't thought the
problem through.

Broad crossposting to flood a newsgroup is a form of censorship.
In radio, we'd call it "jamming."
