As submitted to Cary News:

Swift Creek residents have no say over what Cary does TO SWIFT CREEK

Dear Editor:

In reference to Randy Sexton's letter to the editor of the Cary News
dated August 13, 1997. Here we have the view of Mr Sexton, a developer
that says "why is it any of your business what Cary is doing?" What
he does not seem to recognize is that the community of Swift Creek IS
affected by the encroachment of the town of Cary into the area! Very
soon we could be in Cary - against our will. No, we don't pay Cary
taxes, but yes Cary wants to dictate how our property and our
lifestyles will be changed. High density growth into the Swift Creek
area will adversely affect the area's water supply and increase traffic
congestion. Cary has no plans to protect our wells or correct
already over-burdened roads! Cary, and the developers it harbors, has
proven over and over that deceit and behind the scenes deals far out-
weigh collaboration with and compassion for an existing community.
This is why so many people are speaking out on these issues these days!

So, will Mr. Sexton and his "flock of developers" talk Cary into
leaving us alone in Swift Creek and continue their development within
the town limits as they are drawn today? I think not! He and his
flock of believers find it OK to infringe on our way of life, but when
the people of an area speak out, he gets all bent out of shape.

Excellent letter.

As a (shudder) Cary resident, I'll echo my support for the
cause. I for one really don't want to pay the extra taxe$
required to incorporate anyone else. _Especially_ if
they're being forced against their will to join the
Caryan Nation.

IMHO, Cary has enough of its own problems already to deal
with, and seems to be strapped for cash in dealing with its own
basic infrastructure problems. (I wish they paid more
attention to the state of the roads than to the perceived
need for new strip malls. I implore you all to
send your junkmail to the city council, so they have something
with which to check the erosion of Weston Parkway.)

If my signature counts on any petitions, send one my way..

This is a letter in response to Lynn Bonner's article in the N&O
on 8/21/97, entitled "Watershed limits proposed".
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Lynn,

This Joe Thompson seems to be showing just what the developers of the
area are made of. The sad thing is that without media support for the
opposition, the developers will win the battle to destroy the Falls Lake
Water Shed - even with only one commissioner supporting it.

Joe Thompson has been violating Wake County building restrictions in
the area south of Raleigh as well. He has promoted vague and
unenforcable codes that he is regularly "taking advantage of." His
interests are NOT in favor of the people of Wake County and their
futures. They are ONLY in favor of his profitable future.

This profiteering has gotten out of hand as we have allowed people
such as Joe Thompson to gain control.

  Thank you for your article!

P.S. I hope you will stay on top of this issue for the sake of the
people of the area.
