Re: Herbs for arthritis?

My brother swears by Glucosamine Sulfate for his arthritis. The following is from a
flyer I picked up at the health food store:
"The main function of glucosamine sulfate (GLS) is to stimulate the manufacture of
carilage components for joint repair. GLS has also been shown to exert a protective
effect against joint destruction, and when taken orally, it is selectively taken up
by joint tissues to exert a powerful theraputic affect in osteoarthritis.
Double-blind studies have show GLS to relieve pain and inflammation of
osteoarthritis. More importantly it helps the body repair the damaged joint. GLS
is safe and has no side effects. It is not a pain relieving supplement and make
take awhile to produce results. GLS is a prime example of a natural substance used
to improve a condition by addressing the underlying cause while supporting the
body's ability to heal itself."
